3. Obedience to God

Transcription

Welcome to today’s lesson on the importance of obedience to God in evangelism. In this lesson, we will explore why evangelism is not only an act of love but also an act of obedience to God’s will. We will look at how sharing the Gospel is an essential part of bringing people to faith in Jesus and fulfilling the Great Commission given by Jesus.

As believers, we are called to be obedient to God’s will and follow His commands. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands His disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” This command is not optional; it applies to every believer. We are called to go and make disciples, baptize them, and teach them to obey everything that Jesus commanded.

Obedience to God’s commands should be our motivation for evangelism. We should evangelize because God has commanded us to do so, and we want to be obedient to His will. When we share the Gospel with others, we are fulfilling the Great Commission given by Jesus. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells His disciples, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We are called to be witnesses for Jesus, and sharing the Gospel is one way we can fulfill that calling.

Sharing the Gospel is not only an act of obedience, but it is also an act of love. When we share the Gospel with others, we are offering them the opportunity to receive the gift of salvation and to be reconciled to God. Our love for God and others should motivate us to share the Gospel with those who do not yet know Him. In 1 Corinthians 9:16, Paul writes, “For when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, since I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!” Paul felt a deep sense of obligation to share the Gospel, and we should feel the same way.

In conclusion, obedience to God’s will should be our motivation for evangelism. We should evangelize because God has commanded us to do so, and we want to be faithful to His will. When we share the Gospel with others, we are fulfilling the Great Commission given by Jesus. Our love for God and others should also motivate us to share the Gospel. So, let us be obedient to God’s command, and let us share the Good News with those who do not yet know Him.
