Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s lesson on the topic of “Giving Believers Spiritual Gifts”. In this lesson, we will be exploring the different spiritual gifts that believers receive from the Holy Spirit to serve and minister to others.
The Holy Spirit is the one who gives believers the spiritual gifts they need to fulfill the Great Commission and equip them for the work of the ministry. There are many spiritual gifts mentioned in the Bible, and believers can have one or more gifts. In this lesson, we will be discussing five of these gifts.
The first gift we will be discussing is the gift of the word of wisdom. This gift is the ability to receive and impart revelation or knowledge from God about a particular situation or issue. Those who possess the gift of the word of wisdom often use it to counsel and advise others and to help them make important decisions. It is a gift that is used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ.
The second gift we will be discussing is the gift of the word of knowledge. This gift is the ability to receive and impart knowledge or understanding about a person, place, or thing directly from God. Those who possess the gift of the word of knowledge often use it to provide insight and understanding about a particular situation or person and to help others make important decisions. It is a gift that is used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ.
The third gift we will be discussing is the gift of faith. This gift is the supernatural ability to trust in God and His promises and to have confidence in His faithfulness and power. Those who possess the gift of faith often use it to pray for and believe in the healing of others, to speak words of faith and encouragement, and to stand firm in their own faith, even when faced with challenges. It is a gift that is used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ.
The fourth gift we will be discussing is the gift of healing. This gift is the ability to pray for and see physical healings take place through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who possess the gift of healing often use it to pray and minister to the physical needs of others and to see miraculous healings take place. It is a gift that is used for the benefit of the Church and for the glory of God.
The fifth and final gift we will be discussing is the gift of working of miracles. This gift is the ability to see supernatural events or phenomena take place through the power of the Holy Spirit. Those who possess the gift of working of miracles often use it to bring about signs and wonders, such as healing the sick or casting out demons, in order to bring glory to God and show His power and love to others. It is a gift that is used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ.
The sixth gift of the Holy Spirit is the gift of prophecy. This is the ability to receive and deliver a message or revelation from God, often spoken during a church service or gathering. This message may be a word of encouragement, correction, instruction, or warning. Those who possess the gift of prophecy often use it to speak on behalf of God, sharing His heart and His will with His people. This gift is used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ, and it is often accompanied by a strong sense of the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit. However, it is important to evaluate prophecy with the Bible, which is the ultimate authority in matters of faith and practice.
The seventh gift of the Holy Spirit is the gift of discerning of spirits. This is the ability to distinguish between the presence and activity of the Holy Spirit and the presence and activity of evil spirits. It is a gift that is given to certain individuals by the Holy Spirit, enabling them to recognize the spiritual forces at work in a particular situation or in the lives of individual people. Those who possess this gift often use it to resist or oppose evil spirits and to recognize the leading and presence of the Holy Spirit. This gift is also used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ. A deep understanding of spiritual things and a strong sense of the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit often accompanies this gift.
The eighth gift of the Holy Spirit is the gift of different tongues, also known as the gift of languages or the gift of tongues. This is the ability to speak in a language that is not one’s native language because of the empowering and enabling of the Holy Spirit. The ability to interpret the spoken message into a language that others can understand often accompanies this gift. Those who possess this gift often use it to praise and worship God and as a way of sharing the Gospel with those who do not speak the same language. It is important to note that while this gift is a real and powerful manifestation of the Holy Spirit, it should be used in a way that edifies the Church and not disrupts the flow of worship or the understanding of others.
The ninth and final gift of the Holy Spirit we will be discussing is the gift of interpretation of tongues. This is the ability to interpret the message spoken in a language that is not one’s native language because of the empowering and enabling of the Holy Spirit. It is closely related to the gift of different tongues, as it is often exercised with that gift. Those who possess this gift often use it to translate the message spoken in a foreign language into a language that others can understand to facilitate communication and understanding within the Church. This gift is also used for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ. A deep understanding of spiritual things and a strong sense of the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit often accompanies this gift.
So, how do we receive these spiritual gifts? According to the Bible, when we repent of our sins and turn to Jesus, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, including the gift of spiritual gifts (Acts 2:38). However, it is important that we ask Him to reveal to us the gifts He has given to us. It is also important to remember that spiritual gifts are not something we can earn or achieve through our own efforts. They are gifts from God, given to us by His grace and for His purposes. We are simply stewards of the gifts that He has given us, and it is our responsibility to use them to serve others and to build up the body of Christ.
One way to discover our spiritual gifts is through prayer and seeking guidance from God. We can ask Him to reveal to us what gifts He has given us, and to show us how to use them for His glory. We can also look to others in the Church who may have a better understanding of spiritual gifts and ask for their guidance and insight.
It is important to remember that spiritual gifts are not for our own personal gain or recognition. They are given to us for the benefit of the Church and for the building up of the body of Christ. As such, it is important to use them in a way that aligns with God’s will and purpose.
We should also be open to the possibility that God may give us new gifts or lead us to use our gifts in new and different ways. It is important to remain flexible and adaptable to the leading of the Holy Spirit, and to be willing to step out in faith and try new things.
In conclusion, spiritual gifts are an important part of the Christian life, and they are given to us by God for His purposes. It is our responsibility to discover and use these gifts to serve others and to build up the body of Christ. We should seek guidance from God and from others in the Church, remain open to new possibilities, and use our gifts in a way that aligns with God’s will and purpose.
